About the Workshop
Learn how to turn full color photography and other images into beautiful four color riso prints!
In this workshop we will explore the history of four color printing and use of halftones in printmaking. We will walk through the process of setting up a full color image to print on the riso as a four color CMYK process print. The process of setting up these kinds of files can be confusing and frustrating, but we will have fun learning the how and why of four color printing. In the end you’ll walk away with a gorgeous print edition, a collection of the prints made by fellow workshop attendees, a step by step guide to reference for future four color prints, and several other helpful takeaways and downloads. We will be making an edition of four color prints, using the combination of fluorescent pink, aqua, yellow and black.
Each participant will bring their own photos to print in the class. These workshops are oriented around a central theme in order to create a cohesive collection. The theme for this workshop is JUSTICE! Themes are broad and open to any interpretation—use it to help you narrow down the images you bring to the class.
Supplies Needed
Attendees need to bring a computer that has Adobe Photoshop installed with them to the workshop.
Participants will also need to bring 3-5 full color images, of which one will be selected to print as an 8x10 art print. Photos can be digital or printed/film.
