About the Workshop
Learn how to turn your digital illustrations into vibrant riso prints using ink overlays!
Join Outlet PDX in collaboration with Wacom Experience PDX for a fun exploration of digital illustration and risograph printing! This workshop will start with Leland Vaughan, illustrator and co-owner of Outlet, sharing their work, inspiration, and process with a brief instructional on digital illustration as it relates to risograph printing. Participants will have access to and guidance with Wacom’s digital tools and tablets and time to work on their own digital illustration projects with feedback from folks experienced with translating digital art to beautiful risograph prints.
Participants will have a week to work on finishing a digital illustration following the workshop at Wacom Experience Center, and then will meet at Outlet’s studio in NE Portland to see these illustrations come to life as 3 color prints! Each person will leave with an edition of vibrant risograph prints, plus other takeaways, digital downloads, and access to Outlet’s studio for future risograph projects.

About the Instructor
Leland Vaughan is a graphic designer, illustrator, and the co-owner of Outlet! They have been working on a yearly project since 2020 involving recreating vintage packaging and labels - from matchbooks to orchard boxes to stamps. They’re enchanted with older printmaking methods and how they can translate those to risograph. Outlet is their second home and they love spreading the joy of riso, especially when it comes to all of the beautiful overlays and ink colors that this unique printing method can give!
About Outlet
Outlet is a risograph press and the studio of Kate Bingaman-Burt and Leland Vaughan! We print stuff, host workshops, make zines, and facilitate pop-ups and other events. We do a lot of different things - we’re part risograph print shop, part store, part illustration studio, part workshop & pop-up event space, part community resource, and part zine library!
